Clinical Hypnotherapy for Weightloss / Stop Smoking / Phobias & Fears

GROUPON APPOINTMENT BOOKING PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: If you are currently receiving any psychological care or are on prescribed medication for any psychological condition(s) you must FIRST obtain a letter of referral from your health-care practitioner i.e. GP, Psychologist, Psychiatrist etc. before I can work with you.

Please send me an email via the Contact page prior to making your first appointment and I will email you a referral request letter for you to give to your health-care practitioner to sign.  Only once you have the referral letter signed by your health-care practitioner should you then get in touch to arrange your first appointment.

This letter must be presented before your first session; failure to present a letter of referral upon arrival will result in the forfeiture of the session and I will not be able to work with you.

STEP 1: To make an appointment, please either ring 0797 285 1711 and leave a message with your details or send  an email by clicking here . Remember to include your full name, contact number, preferred dates and times, and Groupon voucher code and security code. I aim to ring/email you back within 24 hours (Mon-Fri).

Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy - 24 hours notice is required. If you cancel or wish to reschedule a session with less than 24 hours notice, you have forfeited that session. If you then want to re-schedule, your new session will be charged at my standard rate of £225 per hour. 

STEP 2: Once you have a confirmed date and time for your first session, then please copy and paste the Pre-Session Questionnaire below. Answer all the questions and email it back to me at least 24 hrs prior to your first session. Email info@stephencscott.com

Please note: The purpose of asking you to complete the questionnaire before your session is for me to be able to adequately prepare for your session by knowing what it is you want to work on. If you don't complete the questionnaire beforehand as requested, then we have to use your first session to do this.

Pre-Session Questionaire

  1. Why have you decided to have hypnotherapy?
  2. How will your life improve when you have achieved your desired result  i.e lost weight/stopped smoking/overcome a phobia?
  3. Write a a short life history including any events that were significant to you (both positive and negative).
  4. What other therapy/coaching/counselling have you had to date (if any)?
  5. Are you on any medication? If answered yes, please list.
  6. Have you ever been diagnosed with any psychological issues? If answered yes, please list.
  7. Have you ever been hypnotised? If answered yes, what was the reason for having hypnosis?

Clinical Hypnotherapy

Sessions take place at London Natural Health Centre, 46 Theobald's Road, Holborn London WC1X 8NW on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturday. 

How effective is hypnotherapy?
A survey of psychotherapy literature by noted psychologist Alfred A. Barrios, Ph.D. revealed the following recovery rates:

Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions.
Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions.
Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions.

Please note: Three Groupon sessions is not a full intervention for weight control. I do the best I can for all my clients in three sessions however clients should expect to invest at least 6-8 sessions to achieve significant long term weight loss results.

Smoking and phobias can usually be addressed in 3 sessions. With phobias it does depend on what other psychological treament you have had for the condition.

Client commitment and motivation is crucial to the success of any hypnotherapy treatment as is the 100% completion of all tasks assigned.

Hypnotherapy for weight loss - Does it really work?
Yes, research demonstrates a significant effect when using hypnosis for weight loss.

In a 9-week study of two weight management groups (one using hypnosis and one not using hypnosis), the hypnosis group continued to get results in the two-year follow-up, while the non-hypnosis group showed no further results (Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1985). In a study of 60 women separated into hypnosis versus non-hypnosis groups, the groups using hypnosis lost an average of 17 pounds, while the non-hypnosis group lost an average of only 0.5 pounds (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1986).

In a meta-analysis, comparing the results of adding hypnosis to weight loss treatment across multiple studies showed that adding hypnosis increased weight loss by an average of 97% during treatment, and even more importantly increased the effectiveness post treatment by over 146%.
This shows that hypnosis works even better over time (Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1996).

Important points about hypnosis:

  • Hypnosis is a totally natural state.
  • You cannot ever become "stuck‟ in hypnosis.
  • You won‟t reveal your "hidden secrets" in hypnosis.
  • All hypnosis is in fact self-hypnosis.
  • You can‟t be made to do anything against your will in hypnosis. Your unconscious mind only allows you to do things acceptable to you.
  • Hypnosis is a completely safe modality of therapy. Always make sure you see a fully qualified professional hypnotherapist.
  • Client motivation and commitment to change is essential for success.
